Trattoria family run Como

the kitchen

Lake Como, together with the surrounding hills and mountains, offers genuinely tasty local produce.

Remaining faithful to traditional Italian cooking, the Larian food offer is like the area itself; a true gastronomic treasure trove with everything from freshwater fish from the lake, local cheeses, meats and meat dishes.

La Costa trattoria offers home cooked style food with a menu that varies from day to day, depending on the season and local availability.
You can find cereal based soups, the famous pasta 'pennette La Costa', a home-made gnocchi pasta as well as numerous boiled dishes.
There are tasty main courses, seasonally served with Taragna polenta, dishes based on game, braized meat, gulash, osso bucco and fiorentino 'elephant ear' steaks.
There is a wide offer of freshwater fish dishes.

The La Costa kitchen also hosts themed evenings with special menus composed of traditional regional dishes that might not otherwise be easy to find; such as the traditional Lombard speciality, 'La Casseula'. In addition there is tripe, 'missultini' - a well-loved Larian dish – and 'il tocc', a type of polenta with cheese.

You must never miss the chance to try the home-made desserts. They are fabulous. There are pies and tarts and the famous 'cutizza', a sweet bread known as the poor mans's cake. There is also crème caramel and strudel. Highly recommended is 'il bonnet', a typical rich dessert from Piemonte.
